Abstract
Inside Cakes: The Emotional Aesthetics of Cakes is inspired by a curiosity about cakes and their cultural, emotional, aesthetic and symbolic value. In fact, in online spaces people passionately express nostalgia for baking in the mid to late 20th century, and question why cakes with strong visual and emotional appeal are no longer available. A series of whimsical illustrations, a publication, a poster series and a fantastical vending machine help viewers imagine the possibility of cakes and baked treats that carry emotional meaning.
