Abstract
When we combine principles of graphic design, such as grid, hierarchy, typography, and abstraction with experimental art and music production, what new forms might emerge? How might an immersive gallery installation visually represent a musical artist’s sound?
The Dog Who Swallows Millions explores these questions by taking several different approaches to visualizing a sixteen-minute piece of experimental music, including branding, creative coding, experimental typography, loudspeaker design, and generative art.
The project explores contrasts and similarities between formal graphic design principles and the aesthetics of glitch art, rave, punk, and experimental music culture. It intends to create a memorable, thought-provoking experience for its viewers.
