Abstract
Inspired by an emotional line in Toni Morrison’s Sula, “We were girls together”, Girlhood explores the innocence and nuances of girl’s adolescence. A time when everything was brighter, and felt so deeply. Girlhood is friendship and technicolor, but it’s also self defense, sexualization, and a constant search of self. With a touch of nostalgia, Girlhood explores the memory of this stage of life through posters and photography of objects contributed by different women that contain memories of their own girlhood.
