Outside In

Abstract

I’ve spent my adult life living in small city apartments that feel far from the outdoors. I’ve tried to bring the outside in, hauling plants and botanical drawings into my living room and buying blouses patterned with fruits and flowers. But it’s not quite the same, is it?

Outside In explores how to bring the outdoors back to the forefront of the mind in a meaningful way. It explores the botanical movement in art and design, and ties this movement back into biophilia and design theory. Outside In culminates in a series of exploratory, semi-spontaneous collages that juxtapose natural and manmade phenomena.
