African Osscillation Club

Abstract

African Osscillation Club is an immersive exploration of West African electronic music from 1975 to 2005. Beginning around the 1970s, pioneering African electronic music began to flourish in West Africa and influenced electronic music throughout the continent, until 2005 when it achieved global influence. The music features strong drum beats and African instruments to synthesize rhythmic and emotional electronic music. In context with the history of Africa at the time, this music, even if it sounds happy, often contains themes such as a global war or political reform. It’s a very interesting contradiction. But sometimes it also just expresses pure joy.
