Abstract
Emotional Relics examines how objects become emotionally significant in our lives. By documenting a single object that holds deep meaning for an individual, the work explores how material things carry emotional weight regardless of their monetary value or designed purpose. In surveys and interviews, participants identified an object and the primary emotion it represents (comfort, joy, grief, nostalgia). The outcomes include an archive of objects and stories, and a series of illuminated forms that translate each emotion making abstract feelings physically tangible.
