Abstract
This thesis explores the relationship between pattern, memory, and cultural identity. The work centers on the Indian festival of lights, Diwali, and explores patterns through both written language and experimental forms. A combination of self-generated shape compositions, typography, motion graphics and a spatial installation shows patterns in state of origin, emergence, density, fragmentation and dissolution. The outcome reflects the tension between imperfection and refinement, mirroring the way memory is experienced.
